Basler is a leading international manufacturer of imaging components for computer vision applications such as cameras, lenses, frame grabbers, software as well as embedded vision solutions, customized products and consulting services. The products are used in a variety of computer vision markets, including factory automation, medical, traffic, logistics, retail, and robotics. Founded in 1988, the Basler Group employs approximately 1000 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg (near Hamburg) and other locations in Europe, Asia and North America.

Around 50 team members work at the Mannheim site in Baden-Württemberg, most of whom are active in R&D. The focus of this site is on the development of frame grabbers and interface cards as well as the corresponding software.

A powerful vision solution requires perfectly coordinated components – from a suitable camera to a cutting-edge image processing software suite.
We are thoroughly committed to offering our customers a vision system that meets all their technological requirements – from hardware to a complete image processing software suite. With this in mind, we are always on the lookout for inquisitive, high-caliber experts who would like to team up with us in an effort to develop software that not only recognizes images but also brings them to life.

Your responsibilities

  • You will help to ensure that customers' expectations with regard to the quality of our pylon software suite are met in the context of development projects and product changes.
  • This will involve completing the task of drawing up requirement specifications and a scope statement with regard to the testability of requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • You will request designs-to-test, tests, reviews, documentation, and release decisions as part of development projects.
  • You will also take ownership of the tasks of planning, defining, implementing, and documenting test-related work packages in the context of development projects, product changes, and preliminary studies.
  • In addition, your responsibilities will include specifying, setting up, and operating the test infrastructure.
  • You will handle the automation of product tests (e.g., GUI tests).
  • Together with the other Test & Quality Engineers at Basler, you will regularly work on the refinement of procedures and processes in support of cross-team standards and in order to avoid waste.

Your qualifications

  • This position calls for entry-level or advanced experience relating to Quality Assurance, with an emphasis on software testing.
  • You will be keen to improve the quality of software through bug tracking, thus adding to the overall customer experience.
  • You should be proficient in a higher programming language, e.g., C++, C#, Python, Java.
  • This will be complemented by experience relating to various platforms such as Windows, (embedded) Linux, or Mac OS.
  • Ideally, your credentials will include ISTQB certification.
  • Some experience in working with Image Processing would be a valuable asset – or you will be eager to broaden your horizons in this field.
  • The same applies to knowledge of the relevant cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) as well as CI/CD with Jenkins.
  • Your personal credentials will include team spirit, a keen interest in exchanging technical knowledge with other developers at our sites in Ahrensburg, Hamburg, and Mannheim, and the ability to pass on your knowledge to colleagues.
  • "You never stop learning..." – you will have to be on the ball when it comes to new trends in the field of test engineering. We are looking to attract someone who is keen and agile enough to acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Your credentials will include a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to justify your technical input.
  • You should enjoy collaborating with others as part of internal and external interfaces.
  • Whether in project work, sports, or voluntary activities – team spirit will be in your personal DNA.
  • Finally, you will need a good command of German and English.

What we offer

  • We want to embrace the topic of "software" and offer you the chance to become an integral part of a business unit that is of strategic importance – with the prospect of contributing to its expansion. Will you join us?
  • We have a clear vision of where we are going, but the individual teams decide how to go about it.
  • We welcome your fresh view from the outside and cultivate an open culture in which all employees are encouraged to contribute ideas.
  • "Work-life balance" is not just an empty phrase at our company: we support our employees in caring for children and the elderly and have been recognized for our commitment by the "berufundfamilie" audit.
  • Hybrid workplace -  mix of working in the office and mobile or remote working.
  • First-class IT equipment including notebook and modern workstations.
  • Fair payment with internal wage transparency, flextime account to reduce overtime, 30 days payed vacation and open communication: on a first-name basis from trainee to board member.
