Your responsibilities

In industrial research, you are given the opportunity to work on a forward-looking topic with high practical relevance. You will develop your own concepts, methods or algorithms, show that your ideas work and that you can convince colleagues with your results. We attach great importance to good supervision at a high level. You can interact intensively with other students and colleagues in the team.

In order to choose the right topic for you from our wide range, we ask you to tell us which of the following areas sounds most interesting to you:

  • Classical digital photography is primarily about algorithms in a camera or in its immediate environment. The goal is to create or convey images that look good or machine well. Mainly classical, parsimonious computational methods are used.
  • In computer vision, we mainly work with artificial intelligence, e.g. deep learning. We develop and modify e.g. classification or detection algorithms in such a way that they run on the latest hardware accelerators and are fast enough for industrial applications.
  • In 3D we generate depth information with our time-of-flight camera or with novel image sensors and design 3D processing steps. Both classical and learning methods are used here.

Your qualifications 

  • You study (technical) computer science, image processing, electrical engineering, physics, technical or applied mathematics, data science or a similar subject.
  • If you already have experience with Python, image processing software (e.g. OpenCV) and/or a deep learning framework, that's beneficial.
  • Your eyes light up when you face a big technical challenge.
  • You like to work independently on projects and at the same time you like to exchange ideas with your colleagues.
  • Fluent German or English round off your profile.
