Basler is a leading international manufacturer of imaging components for computer vision applications such as cameras, lenses, frame grabbers, software as well as embedded vision solutions, customized products, and consulting services. The products are used in a variety of computer vision markets, including factory automation, medical, traffic, logistics, retail, and robotics.

The Basler Group employs approximately 1,000 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg (near Hamburg) and other locations in Europe, Asia, and North America. Among the key factors driving our 30-year success story are the courage to take risks, a mindset that embraces the idea of continuous change, and a passion for championing innovation tailored to customer requirements.

A powerful vision solution requires perfectly matched components - from a suitable camera to the perfect image processing software suite.
We are committed to providing our customers with a vision system that is tailored to all their technological requirements, from the hardware to the complete image processing software suite. For this purpose, we are always looking for inquisitive and knowledgeable experts to work with us in developing software that not only recognizes images but also brings them to life.

Your responsibilities

  • You will lead a (development) team within the software unit in both a functional and disciplinary capacity.
  • Your tasks will include supporting, coaching, and developing the team members.
  • In addition, you can look forward to a close dialogue within the management team.
  • You will design and develop agile (continuous software development) processes and work environments together with Project Management and will assume responsibility for drawing up the details of team-to-team collaboration.
  • You will also take responsibility and ownership for the team's agreed deliverables and modules.
  • As Group Leader, you will continuously develop your team and work practices and ensure a best-in-class development environment for your team members.

Your qualifications

  • You will have demonstrable experience in software development and a university degree in a relevant technical field or comparable vocational qualifications.
  • You will have initial professional leadership experience as a project, team, or group leader and will act as a committed leader, engaging with your team on an equal footing. You will also be passionate about motivating, developing, and managing an interdisciplinary team.
  • Your credentials should include methodological expertise, passion, flexibility and drive, in addition to the ability to coordinate joint conceptual work with the respective experts and bring about well-judged decisions. You will see yourself as an active driver in software development and will take the initiative. "Just do it!" is a motto that you fully embrace.
  • You should also be familiar with continuous integration, customer centricity, agile development, and requirements engineering.
  • We are looking to attract someone who is open, flexible, and reflective – someone who manages to network quickly and effectively and who thrives in a dynamic business environment.
  • In addition to being familiar with modular software product architecture, you will know how to get multiple teams to communicate in a meaningful way.
  • Team spirit is important to you. Thanks to your open, confident, well-balanced, and empathetic manner, you always manage to make everyone feel sufficiently empowered in pursuit of mutual success.
  • Last but not least your skills will include fluent German and good written and spoken English.

What we offer

  • We want to “make software big” and offer you the chance to become part of a strategically important business unit – and to contribute to its expansion. Are you in?
  • We have about 10 different software development teams within the unit. These teams take care of all aspects of our software portfolio from UX to our front ends, framework and partner interfaces, hardware integration of our products, and deployment and integrative testing.
  • We have a clear vision of the direction we want to take, but it is up to the individual teams to decide how they get there.
  • We welcome your fresh outside perspective and foster an open culture in which everyone is encouraged to contribute their ideas.
  • "Work-life balance" is not just an empty phrase at Basler: we support our employees in their roles as family carers and have been recognized for our commitment through the "berufundfamilie" audit.
  • Respect for our staff members' personal interests and reconciling these with their professional lives is an important part of our corporate culture.
  • Hybrid workplace -  mix of working in the office and mobile/remote working.
  • First-class IT equipment including notebook and modern working environment
  • Attractive remuneration with internal wage transparency, 30 days of paid vacation, and open communication: on first-name terms from trainee to board member.
