The Smaller, the Finer: Camera Sizes in Industrial Image Processing
So what do sugarcubes have to do with digital cameras? Quite a lot, as demonstrated in our new article in Vision Campus . The so-called sugarcube camera design has become a well-established feature in many applications in various markets such as medicine, traffic and transport or retail, as well as for quality testing and automatic, optical inspection within factory automation.
Compact sizes offer a range of advantages: the key technical innovations are taking place within this small format. The lightweight design of small cameras means, for example, robot arms can move quicker and with greater flexibility. The smaller sensors in small camera formats also have a direct impact on cost benefits.
In our Vision Campus article "The Smaller, the Finer: Camera Sizes in Industrial Image Processing" , we look into this and other benefits of compact and mini formats in detail and provide tips on what to bear in mind with new designs or redesigns.
You can also find a whole host of other information about vision technology in Vision Campus . How to find the right lens for your camera ? Which components actually make up a vision system? All this and much more explained. Worth a look!
