Practical phase at the company

Your time at the company is what makes the work/study program unique. At Basler you can get a comprehensive insight into various departments. Here you will work independently on complex tasks and projects. This will teach you to consider these projects and problems from all possible angles and propose solutions. This work/study program is not only a matter of understanding a range of topics and applying existing knowledge, it is also about developing new algorithms and modeling new data structures. You will go through departments such as these during your training:

  • Software Department
  • Firmware Department
  • IT Department

Studies at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences

The study program at HUAS differs from other universities primarily because the intake is small and professors have enough time to address any questions you may have. This also makes networking among fellow students easier. In this program, study consists of 50% lectures and 50% laboratory practice in which you do your own programming. You can expect the following subjects, among others, during the technical computer science course:

  • Mathematics
  • Databases
  • Analysis & Linear Algebra
  • Embedded System Engineering
  • Programming

This is what our work/study program students say

Magdalena Günther - Technical Computer Science

Why technical computer science?

Even at school I really wanted to study technical computer science – while working. This is a combination that isn’t very widespread. At Basler I finally found the solution.

And why was it important to you to study while working?

What we learn at university, we can really apply in practical phases in our own projects, for example with the Azubot. This gives you an enormous added value.

What convinced you about Basler?

Not just the pleasantly relaxed atmosphere during the application process... You really feel accepted, part of the company. This helped me settle in especially after I moved to Hamburg! But you quickly get involved, not just on a personal level but also a technical one.
