Programming robots with vision components takes on a new dimension with the integration of the Basler blaze. The Basler blaze offers cost-efficient 3D imaging in real time and can now be used with the completely revised version of the Robot Operating System (ROS) via the pylon camera driver.
The pylon ROS 2 driver is available for download via GitHub and enables the integration of Basler "time-of-flight" cameras in ROS 2 projects. ROS 2 is an open- source framework with numerous software libraries and tools to support the development of a wide variety of robotic systems. ROS2 is increasingly used for innovative solutions in industrial robotics. Since ROS 1 and ROS 2 are not compatible, ROS 1 projects for the blaze will continue to be supported by a corresponding camera driver.
