    One of the most important diagnostic methods in ophthalmology is slit lamp microscopy. It is used to evaluate the conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, lens and anterior vitreous humor. Fundoscopy enables the posterior section of the eye to be inspected, particularly the retinal and choroid membrane structures and the optic nerve. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides three-dimensional images of vitreous humor and retinal structures quickly. Kerato-refractometers are used to determine wave front aberrations and corneal topographies as well as for pupillometry, keratometry and auto refraction. Diagnostics for visual field defects are performed by perimetry.
