SilhouetteMatchAI is an AI-enabled software module for handling relatively planar objects in machine tending processes. It builds on classic SilhouetteMatch and extends it with AI-based segmentation for more robust detection in mixed, unsorted, and more demanding scenes. Unlike the classic module, no base-plane calibration is required.
The module detects planar or relatively flat objects, determines their 3D position, and supports the definition or computation of grasp points. Optional overlap detection helps with the reliable picking of partially occluded parts. Setup is simplified through easy template generation via DXF upload. SilhouetteMatchAI runs on the Camera Cube and includes classic SilhouetteMatch. Depending on the scene and object complexity, using a pattern projector can be beneficial.
