Portable test platform for cost-effective lab testing
Better, more accessible, and affordable laboratory tests had become an important issue, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Rapid tests could reduce the long wait times when hospitals and doctors' offices send their samples to centralized labs for testing. Fluxergy LLC, founded in 2013, is an innovative start-up company for laboratory diagnostic solutions. The company has developed a testing platform based on three core elements: the single-use Fluxergy Card, the Fluxergy Analyzer and the Fluxergy Works user interface. This portable and sophisticated sample-to-answer laboratory platform enables cost-effective and accessible laboratory testing.
This allows laboratory professionals, clinicians, veterinarians, and healthcare workers to perform a wide range of multiplexed and multimodal diagnostic tests (different types of tests at once, up to 30 targets) from a single, small sample.
Fast test results thanks to Basler dart and Fluxergy Works software
Based on this test platform, the company launched testing options for COVID-19 diagnostics within one hour. The Fluxergy system enables portable testing in any environment and, depending on the type of test, a result within 15-60 minutes from sample collection.
The Fluxergy Analyzer and disposable cards (Fluxergy Cards) are designed to be highly cost-effective and scalable, using proprietary printed circuit board (PCB) and microfluidic manufacturing technology. Each system contains two Basler dart camera modules (daA1280-54um). By using the Fluxergy Works software, up to 256 Fluxergy Analyzers can be managed with a local server and also connected to the cloud.
Test systems for differential diagnoses in planning
Fluxergy is working on a combination test that includes both PCR and serology (immunochemistry). In addition, Fluxergy is planning a respiratory panel that could enable differential diagnosis between COVID-19, influenza and other common respiratory pathogens. This type of test will be particularly relevant for the detection of the virus during the next "flu season".
