CMOS Global Shutter Cameras

Modern CMOS sensors are available with global shutter, which is a shutter technology that is ideal for capturing moving objects. If a camera needs to capture moving objects and fast motion sequences, the type of shutter as well as the sensor technology are key factors for image quality.

How does a global shutter sensor work?

A global shutter exposes all lines of an image at the same time, 'freezing' the moving object in place. This prevents motion distortions, making global shutter technology the ideal choice for applications with moving objects and rapid movement sequences, such as automatic license plate detection in traffic monitoring.
