The DWS Logistics System with 3 Basler Products
What was the problem?
A DWS system must perform a wide range of tasks in parcel shipping: The parcels transported on the conveyor belt must not only be correctly identified, but also precisely measured (such as by laser profile measurements or 3D processes). Since weight also plays a role, a DWS system also needs to offer an integrated solution for weighing.
Basler has developed a DWS system for the correct detection and precise measurement of parcels. This DWS solution for parcel transport via conveyor belts consists of three different image processing components:
ace 2 area scan cameras
blaze 3D cameras
First, four Basler ace 2 cameras scan the passing parcels for barcodes. In the next step, two Basler blaze cameras precisely measure the packages. The Basler pylon Camera Software Suite then collects and analyzes this data. The pylon vTools are used to recognize and read the bar, matrix, and/or QR codes that were scanned by the ace 2 cameras. The software also controls the management and setup of the two blaze 3D cameras, which are responsible for the correct measurement of the object.
This means that only one piece of software is required for the entire camera control.
