Information on U.S. Tariff Surcharges for Deliveries into the USA
The U.S. government has implemented import duties on goods entering the United States. The first wave of tariffs took effect in early March, 2025, targeting products from specific countries. A second wave followed in early April, impacting additional countries. These duties, tariffs or similar charges (“Tariffs”) vary based on both the country of origin and the product group.
Basler products, as well as third-party products offered by Basler, are affected by these Tariffs. While we remain hopeful that the Tariffs will be temporary, it is not sustainable for Basler to continue absorbing the tariff costs. As a result, Basler will begin passing Tariffs through and corresponding Tariff surcharges will be applied for all deliveries beginning May 12, 2025.
We are committed to supporting our customers during this time. Basler will not increase product prices in response to these Tariffs at this time and is actively reviewing its supply chain to identify ways to reduce the financial impact for all stakeholders.
For Customers Using DAP (Delivered at Place) Shipment Terms
Starting May 12, 2025, all orders delivered under DAP terms will include a Tariff surcharge based on the Tariffs paid by Basler, Inc. on the customer’s behalf to import goods into the United States.
Surcharges are calculated individually for each product, based on the applicable Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code, which classifies products for customs purposes according to their product category and country of origin.
For all open orders not yet delivered by May 12, 2025, customers will receive updated order confirmations that include the Tariff surcharge.
We ask customers to confirm these revised orders by simply replying to the revised order confirmation email.
If Basler, Inc. does not receive a response within three (3) business days, the new order confirmation will be deemed accepted and we will fulfill the order to ensure timely shipment.
For all quotations and orders placed on or after May 12, 2025, the Tariff surcharge will be clearly itemized on all quotations, order confirmation, and invoice documents.
For Customers Using EXW or FCA Shipment Terms
Customers using EXWorks (EXW) or Free Carrier (FCA) shipment terms will see no change. These customers will continue to manage customs import formalities and tariff payments independently, working with their designated freight forwarders who collect goods at Basler facilities.
