CoaXPress 2.0 standard connected with new CMOS sensor performance

Basler connects the new CoaXPress 2.0 standard for galactic high bandwidth with a new world of CMOS sensor performance, to simplify complex vision systems and deliver an unmatched price/performance ratio. High speed, high resolution and simple cabling are the key benefits of combining the new standard and state-of-the-art CMOS sensor technology.

Galactic high bandwidth with CoaXPress 2.0

Key features of CoaXPress 1.1, the leading high-speed interface, are high bandwidth, real-time behavior, very precise triggering, and cost-effective cabling options.

The new CoaXPress 2.0 standard (CXP-12) increases the maximum bandwidth over a single connection up to 12.5 Gbit/s. This enables the use of even higher resolutions and higher frame rates. Compared to the CoaXPress 1.1 standard, the user needs only half the cables to transmit the same amount of data. When combined with Power over CXP (PoCXP) and triggering, no further wiring besides the CoaXPress cables is required.

A significant cost reduction per transmitted megapixel can be achieved by updating to the new CXP-12 interface.

A new world of CMOS sensor performance

In recent years the CMOS sensor technology has gone through significant upgrades.

High speed and resolution, low power consumption and, most recently, improved noise characteristics, quantum efficiency, and color concepts have given the CMOS sensor a new position in the market. This opened up applications that have previously been reserved for CCD sensors only.

The improvements to CMOS technology and the strong price/performance ratio of these sensors make them increasingly attractive for Machine Vision applications. Particularly, the very high frame rate by almost no compromise in image quality arouses the increasing interest of customers.

Five-star control with frame grabber technology

Basler understands the challenges of complex imaging systems e.g. with frame grabber technology. We take this into consideration when we connect these technologies with the new CoaXPress 2.0 standard and state-of-the-art CMOS sensor technology to take our customers to a new dimension. In the future, you will get both – camera and frame grabber – from Basler with our proven ease of integration. Be prepared for a smooth interaction of vision components.

Unmatched price/performance ratio

Connecting the latest standards with up-to-date hardware solutions decreases the overall system costs significantly, which causes an unmatched price/performance ratio.

By switching to cost-efficient CMOS sensors with increased performance, customers can experience out of this world image quality at down-to-earth pricing.

The new CoaXPress 2.0 standard also comes with a cost-saving effect: with a single cable solution for data transfer, camera control, trigger option and power supply, it reduces components costs and the complexity of vision systems. As a result, the costs per megabit per second or megapixel per second will be reduced significantly and are worth comparing when evaluating a new vision system.
