Access Control: Recognition of Safety Helmets and Reflective Vests

Safety is the highest good - especially on construction sites and in other safety areas. To ensure this safety, Basler has developed a live demo that uses artificial intelligence and an embedded vision system to detect whether a person is wearing a safety helmet or reflective vest.

The embedded vision system identifies people who wish to gain access to a security area and classifies objects, in this case helmets and reflective vests. The AI algorithms help the system to detect whether the person in front of the camera is wearing a safety helmet or a reflective vest. Through the intelligent processing of the collected data, the system can draw conclusions as to whether the employee is allowed to enter the security area. The data is also consolidated and visualized using a dashboard. This gives the user a complete overview of how many people have been denied or allowed access.
