Multistreaming feature of Basler IP cameras
Document number: AW000845
This application note describes how the BIP's multistreaming and dual encoding capabilities can be used to significantly reduce the required bandwidth.
Based on a scenario where the image data is used by an operator and a network video recorder (NVR) the document describes the following aspects:
- What are the typical requirements of the different users concerning frame rate and image quality?
- What would be a standard solution, and what are the negative consequences of the standard solution?
- What are the benefits of the BIP's multistreaming and dual encoding capabilities?
Two solutions are described, both using two video streams, one for the operator, the other for the video management system (VMS). The application notes compares the standard solution with the IP camera solution and also compares the two IP solutions to each other, and it shows which solution reduces the bandwidth consumption most.
