Keeping Biscuits in Good Shape - Basler GigE Cameras Optimize Biscuit Production
The main objective for a biscuit manufacturer is to achieve economic production. He wants to be able to react quickly and reliably to possible disturbances in the production process. Consumers, on the other hand, expect the biscuits in a package to be consistent in size, weight and quality. A vision-based inspection system can help to make sure these expectations are met.
The production environment requires highly reliable cameras that deliver excellent image quality even in challenging conditions at temperatures exceeding 45 °C. The Basler scout GigE cameras used in this inspection system fully meet these requirements. The cameras capture images of the biscuits from above to measure their length and width. To measure their height, another camera captures images of a laser line profile of the biscuits. This way, the system yields a total of 3600 inspected biscuits per minute.
