Basler ToF Camera Excites CeBIT Visitors
At CeBIT 2017, Accellence Technologies GmbH, a specialist in platform-independent video management and data security from Hanover, presented the Basler ToF Camera with the vimacc video management software at the Heise Security Plaza. The demo showed the live image of the Basler ToF Camera and the possibility of using it to recognize persons and objects in three-dimensional space. With this demo Accellence could clearly visualize the advantage compared to a 2D camera: The Basler ToF Camera was able to detect objects such as a backpack, the volume of a suitcase or hidden objects beneath clothing.
Above all, the trade show visitors were captivated by the possibilities offered by Time-of-Flight technology to monitor and measure objects through three-dimensional depictions, along with the industrial camera’s compact design size. The compilation of the spatial dimensions of scenes and objects at a glance in a multipart image with 2D and 3D information at exactly the same time and the visualization of the depth information by a color-coded range image and a point cloud attracted great interest from the trade fair visitors and gave many possibilities for discussion.
The Basler ToF Camera generated high interest not just in the security area - logistics, medicine and factory automation are just some of the other areas with interesting applications for the Time-of-Flight Camera.
