At Control, Basler Shows the Highlights of the Basler Time-of-Flight Camera in Quality Control During Production and Logistics
At Control 2017 in Stuttgart, Basler presented the Basler Time-of-Flight Camera at the event forum of the Fraunhofer IPA. The main theme of the event forum was "Quality over the course of time – a look at a decade and the future of quality control".
There are many possible applications of Time-of-Flight cameras in the context of quality assurance: to control human/machine interfaces, in self-driving transport systems in production and logistics, and in bin-picking applications.
Through a demo showing the live image of the Basler Time-of-Flight Camera, the trade show visitors saw a vivid presentation of how the Time-of-Flight procedure works. For example, the demo showed how the camera makes it possible to recognize and measure persons and objects in three-dimensional space.
Visitors were fascinated by the compact design size, the capability of compiling spatial dimensions of scenes and objects at a glance in a multi-part image simultaneously with 2D and 3D information, and by the visualizations of depth information through a color-coded range image and scatter diagram, which led to many discussions.
