All You Need Is ace: 20 New Models with Sony IMX Sensors

All You Need Is ace: 20 New Models with Sony IMX Sensors

Basler is expanding its most successful camera series, the ace, with 20 new high-resolution models featuring Sony Pregius and STARVIS sensors with the latest global and rolling shutter technology. With this portfolio expansion, the ace series is growing to over 120 cameras, making it the largest camera series in the industrial image processing market.

To distinguish the models more easily, Basler is grouping the ace series into three product lines from now on: ace classic, ace U and ace L.

ace L: Twelve New ace Models with Sony Pregius Global Shutter Sensors

The ace L product line includes twelve of the 20 new models. These models are equipped with the Sony Pregius sensors IMX253, IMX255, IMX267 and IMX304, and offer resolutions of 9 and 12 megapixels as well as frame rates of up to 40 fps. Their brilliant Pregius image quality--with a high resolution and a pixel size of 3.45 µm, along with state-of-the-art global shutter technology--makes the twelve new ace models the ideal choice, especially for applications in highly automated 3D inspection systems or in traffic monitoring.

ace U: Eight New ace Models with Sony STARVIS Rolling Shutter Sensors

Eight of the twenty new ace models are equipped with the IMX178 and IMX226 sensors from Sony’s STARVIS line. The latest rolling shutter technology and high resolutions of 6 and 12 megapixels with up to 59 frames per second offer a high potential, especially in microscopy applications and less complex automation tasks in the electronics industry. The innovative BI (back-illuminated) sensor technology provides outstanding sensitivity at a small pixel size of 2.4 µm (IMX178) or 1.85 µm (IMX226).

All 20 new ace models are available with the proven GigE or USB 3.0 interface, and conform to GigE Vision 2.0 or the USB3 Vision standard. The GigE models stand out with their high-performance PTP (precision time protocol) which is part of the GigE Vision 2.0 standard. The ten color models also include Basler’s unique in-camera image optimization PGI, the feature combination of 5x5 debayering, color-anti-aliasing, denoising and improved sharpness. The popular Basler pylon Camera Software Suite helps you integrate ace cameras quickly and easily. All 20 models are available as design-in samples.

New Names for an Easy Overview

The launch of the 20 new models also introduces a new naming system for the ace series. Introduced as the smallest camera in the market, the ace family has been growing steadily ever since. With the integration of the new CMOS sensors as well as the expanded set of features in the form of PGI, the ace series took the next step in its technological development. The “new ace” was born. Today the entire series offers more than 120 models and provides a broad choice of sensors, interfaces, resolutions, features and sizes.

To make the selection clearer for customers and to better distinguish the various model features, Basler will group the ace series into three product lines from now on: ace classic, ace U and ace L.
