New pypylon Interface for Python Development & pylon Camera Driver for ROS
pypylon is an open source wrapper interface for the high-performance Basler pylon Camera Software Suite. It lets new and experienced Python programmers quickly and conveniently develop prototype applications and test Basler cameras without needing to set up a complex development environment. This significantly speeds up the camera evaluation process, increases the programmer’s productivity and lowers the total project costs.
With pypylon, Basler is making a camera API available as an open source project for the first time. This results in a high degree of flexibility for the users, since they can modify and build pypylon as they need exactly for their purposes. With this project, Basler wants to encourage the community to integrate its own ideas and actively participate in the further development of pypylon.
The pylon camera driver for the Robot Operating System (ROS) is an open source project that makes it possible to use Basler GigE and USB 3.0 cameras in robot applications, such as logistics in Industry 4.0. Our new application note “Interfacing Basler Cameras with ROS
” explains in detail how you can set up a ROS Linux distribution and the pylon camera driver for ROS to quickly and conveniently integrate Basler cameras in ROS applications.
