Give Robots Human-like Eyes with Alsontech 3D Vision System and Basler ace U Cameras

In automotive inspection processes, headlamps in different shapes need to be plugged in and inspected. This task must be finished manually, because there are several hundreds of different models, which are in complex shapes and placed randomly on the production line.
Basler’s customer Alsontech designs and develops a 3D robot vision positioning system for precise positioning. The system helps their customers to achieve substantial savings.
Two Basler ace U area scan cameras were integrated in the customer’s 3D vision system to obtain detailed point cloud data for the headlamps. Then Alsontech’s intelligent algorithm analyzes the data and generates 3D coordinates of the headlamps, so that the robot knows where the plugs are.
In our Success Story “Give Robots Human-like Eyes with Alsontech 3D Vision System and Basler ace U Cameras", you learn exactly how this system works and why the Basler ace U camera is so well-suited for this application.
