Further Improvements in the New pylon macOS Release (Version 5.1.1)

Further Improvements in the New pylon macOS Release (Version 5.1.1)

Basler’s popular pylon Camera Software Suite for macOS is being released in the new version 5.1.1. This new version comes with a range of new features for the user.

The pylon 5.1.1 release for macOS includes the following features:

  • Integrated camera product documentation for even more ease of use: The pylon Viewer now has context-sensitive product documentation. A click on the features in the pylon Viewer will take you directly to their description in our HTML-based camera documentation. Thanks to integrated programming code examples for all supported programming languages, developing your own software is easier than ever!
  • Expanded multilingual support in pylon Viewer: The description of the camera features as well as the tooltips are now available in other languages in addition to English. They include Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish. In addition, the powerful pylon Viewer can now be used in other languages such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Simply select your preferred language in the pylon Viewer and start checking out your Basler camera in a familiar environment.
  • Histogram, crosshair and grid functions: A new histogram function in the pylon Viewer makes it easy to evaluate the camera image quality. Use the histogram function to calculate and display the distribution of gray values in the active image. You automatically get information about the minimum and maximum gray values as well as the arithmetic mean and standard deviation. To make it easier for you to align and position your camera, the new version of the pylon Viewer optionally displays crosshairs or a grid in the camera image. The size and position of the crosshairs can be changed dynamically and the display color adapts automatically according to the color information of the underlying pixels. The grid function also offers three different degrees of refinement and lets you position several cameras or target objects at the same time.
  • Bandwidth manager for GigE and USB 3.0 cameras: With the bandwidth manager, you can optimize your GigE or USB 3.0 setup in terms of maximum image data throughput and reliability. All questions related to the prototype development and design of the end application can thus be answered quickly and easily.
  • pylon camera emulator: The pylon camera emulator makes it possible to develop your own software without real cameras. Up to 256 camera emulators are supported. This not only emulates the image capture and several basic camera functions but also offers functions not supported by real cameras.

With these new features, we are responding to the valuable feedback from our customers and users of the previous pylon version 5.0.5. We hope that this makes it even easier to cope with some of the challenges and pitfalls of practical use.

You will find a complete overview of the new pylon features in the pylon Release Notes .
