We are proud to have launched 18 dart camera models with the BCON for LVDS interface, as well as a matching development kit , into series production. Our dart camera series stands out for its highly cost-optimized design, resolutions of up to 5 megapixels and major flexibility thanks to multiple lens mounts (S-mount, CS-mount and bare board).
BCON for LVDS - Basler's camera interface for embedded vision applications
We developed the BCON for LVDS interface technology specially for the needs of embedded vision applications. It makes it easier to connect camera modules to LVDS-based vision technologies. LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) is a standard interface for high-speed data transfer, but it lacks a detailed definition of how image transfer is to occur. The gap is closed by BCON for LVDS, which allows for reliable transfer of image data between camera module and cutting-edge FPGA-based embedded processing platforms (FPGA: Field Programmable Gate Array).
Leaner system design
When combined with a Basler dart board level camera module, the BCON for LVDS interface promotes the setup and operation of lean image processing systems, establishing optimal conditions for less expensive design of embedded vision solutions. Yet there is still sufficient flexibility in the selection of the camera module: at present, developers of embedded systems can choose as desired between 18 different dart camera models with the BCON for LVDS interface, with no extra integration costs involved.
Easy integration thanks to PowerPack for Embedded Vision
For those starting new or switching over to embedded vision, the PowerPack makes it easier to integrate a Basler dart board level camera module with BCON for LVDS interface. This development kit is comprised of a Basler dart camera module with BCON for LVDS interface and a resolution of 5 megapixels, a lens, a processing board with Xilinx Zynq®-7010 SoC (system on chip), cables and additional accessories. The kit also contains a hardware and software-side reference implementation. It provides a clear demonstration of FPGA-based image capture in the Zynq SoC as well as connection of a dart BCON camera module to the Basler pylon Camera Software Suite . As such, the development kit serves as a template for the design of a complete embedded vision system and helps cut initial integration costs decisively.
