Basler Time-of-Flight (ToF) Camera: Flexible Robot Handling of Parts Within an Industrial Application

Basler’s customer VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is a leading research and technology company focusing on innovation services to develop new technologies. As part of the European R5-COP project, VTT has developed a reconfigurable robot sensor system that recognizes and locates wooden parts in the robot’s working area.

The 3D point cloud detection and recognition system uses a Basler Time-of-Flight Camera and offers a flexible ROS-based (robot operating system) architecture. The Success Story describes how VTT’s robot sensor system utilizes the 3D technology of Basler’s ToF Camera to locate wooden parts and then add them to the production line.
