Basler is a leading international manufacturer of imaging components for computer vision applications such as cameras, lenses, frame grabbers, software as well as embedded vision solutions, customized products, and consulting services. The products are used in a variety of computer vision markets, including factory automation, medical, traffic, logistics, retail, and robotics. Founded in 1988, the Basler Group employs approximately 800 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg (near Hamburg) and other locations in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Your responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the implementation of microcontroller software in the development of our cameras, which will include programming in C/C++ with and without RTOS.
  • In this context, you will support and optimize the structure of our existing software with regard to Solutions and ensure smooth communication and coordination with the Driver team.
  • When it comes to the development of new cameras, you will be expected to work in the run-up to and during initial commissioning. You will also be involved in firmware releases into production. This will involve working with the host system under Yocto Linux.
  • As part of customer projects, you will support the implementation of specialist requirements and functions not relating directly to the camera itself, e.g., in the implementation of communication stacks.

Your profile

  • To be considered for this role, you will require a solid degree with an emphasis on Electrical Engineering or Computer Studies or comparable vocational qualifications
  • In addition, you will have to be proficient in C and microcontroller programming with and without RTOS.
  • Furthermore, the job calls for experience in kernel or driver development under Linux / Yocto.
  • You will have to be confident in dealing with measuring devices and hardware as well as in version management with git.
  • Additionally, you will have to be able to work on topics in a self-directed manner and implement measures accordingly. This will also include maintaining a close dialogue with external suppliers.
  • Ideally, you will have some knowledge of Python or C++ and will already have worked with the tools Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, and Jenkins.
  • You will have to be a team player and enjoy working in agile teams of different sizes as well as independently in small specialist teams.
  • In addition, you should enjoy working at an interdisciplinary level and, occasionally, across various locations – drawing on a good command of English.

What we can offer

  • We work in agile teams with a mix of hardware and software developers, where the respective developers bring their demonstrable experience to the projects. The hierarchies are flat: the steering group and team each shape the project independently. Supervisors and project managers are always approachable. The composition of our team is needs-based and cross-locational as well as cross-divisional. We plan our daily work in dedicated sprint teams and use Jira and Confluence for task design, planning, and documentation. Our developers work with Windows or Linux as required.
  • We have a clear vision of the direction we want to take, but it is up to the individual teams to decide how they get there.
  • We welcome your fresh outside perspective and foster an open culture in which everyone is encouraged to contribute their ideas in a self-directed manner.
  • Respect for our staff members' personal interests and reconciling these with their professional lives is an important part of our corporate culture.
  • First-class IT equipment, including notebook, mobile working, and a modern working environment.
  • Attractive remuneration with internal wage transparency, flexitime account for overtime reduction, 30 days of vacation, and open communication: on first-name terms from trainee to board member.
