Basler is a leading international manufacturer of imaging components for computer vision applications such as cameras, lenses, frame grabbers, software as well as embedded vision solutions, customized products, and consulting services. The products are used in a variety of computer vision markets, including factory automation, medical, traffic, logistics, retail, and robotics. Founded in 1988, the Basler Group employs approximately 800 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg and other locations in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Your responsibilities

The Digital Media team manages a wide range of digital systems and applications that are of relevance to the customer journey.
Together with two Product Owners (PO) and a UX Designer, you will design next-generation digital platforms in your capacity as Digital Architect.
  • As Digital Architect, you will take responsibility for one or more web applications and advise the Product Owners within your team.
  • You will support the PO and UX Designers during the concept stage of projects within the program plan and draw up a concept for implementation based on the specific requirements.
  • In this context, you will take into account the technology stack utilized by Basler and incorporate new state-of-the-art technology trends and best-practice approaches.
  • In the first 12 months, you will draw up a target architecture for our content management system and transfer it on a step-by-step basis.
  • You will make decisions regarding infrastructure needs as well as deployed technologies and systems.
  • Within the architecture community, you will be responsible for managing the various interfaces and handling technical challenges relating to CMS, eCommerce, CRM, etc.
  • You will document requirements and decisions relating to architecture, in addition to supporting implementation in the context of agile development processes.
  • As Digital Architect, you will also be responsible for code review, deployment processes, and release management. Last but not least, you will liaise with PO and the development team for the purpose of coordinating software releases.

Your qualifications

  • You will have gained 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the technical design of web applications as well as in the development of architectures within larger system environments.
  • This position would be best suited to a candidate with a degree in Computer Science/Business Informatics or comparable vocational qualifications.
  • Solid skills are required in the following areas:
    • Standard web infrastructures (e.g., on the basis of cloud platforms such as Azure)
    • Relevant enterprise applications (such as e-commerce systems or CMS)
    • Architecture approaches (e.g., Monolith vs. Microservice architecture)
    • Web technologies (backend and frontend)
    • Tracking technologies
  • You will have to be well versed when it comes to modern software engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of agile requirement engineering and the translation into user stories is equally important.
  • You will also need a proven track record in applying system selection methods.
  • In addition, the position calls for demonstrable experience in project management relating to digitalization and online projects.
  • Experience with regard to Java, databases, and PIM projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • You will also have to be aware of the fact that things don't always go according to plan. With this in mind, you should always be able to fall back on "plan B" in order to respond rapidly to unforeseen events.
  • A strong hands-on mentality is also considered essential. At the same time, however, you will remain fully focused on your team and ensure that everyone is involved when you put forward your ideas.
  • Thanks to your creative and innovative mindset, you will also be able to familiarize yourself quickly with new topics.
  • Finally, you will need a good command of German and English.

Our offer

  • We have a clear vision of the direction we want to take, but it is up to the individual teams to decide how they get there. You will actively shape the digital strategy at Basler AG within the area of digital business management.
  • We welcome your fresh outside perspective and foster an open culture in which all employees are encouraged to contribute their ideas in a self-directed manner.
  • First-class IT equipment, including notebook, mobile phone, and a modern working environment.
  • "Work-life balance" is not just an empty phrase at Basler: we support our employees in caring for children and the elderly and have been recognized for our commitment through the "Work and Family" audit.
  • Respect for our staff members' personal interests and reconciling these with their professional lives is an important part of our corporate culture.
  • Attractive remuneration with internal wage transparency, 30 days of vacation, and open communication: on a first-name basis from trainee to board member.
