How can I use a Basler boost CoaXPress camera with National Instruments LabVIEW?

According to the CoaXPress standard, device configuration and streaming of image data is realized via a GenICam GenTL Producer.

For a software library, e.g., pylon or any 3rd party, to be able to control and to receive an image stream from a CoaXPress device, e.g., a camera or an interface card/ frame grabber, the implementation of an own GenICam GenTL Consumer is required.

Software libraries that do not support GenICam GenTL though, e.g., National Instruments LabVIEW, cannot be used with CoaXPress devices.

To enable the use of Basler boost CoaXPress cameras and Basler CXP-12 Interface Cards 1C/2C/4C with LabVIEW, Basler offers a dedicated LabVIEW-based sample that demonstrates how the pylon API can be integrated into LabVIEW to realize camera control and image streaming though.

Requirements:

  • pylon Camera Software Suite 6.2 or newer
  • pylon .NET API
  • National Instruments LabVIEW 2017 64bit
  • Basler CXP-12 Interface Card 1C, 2C or 4C
  • Basler boost CoaXPress camera. In this case, a single one-channel monochrome boost camera has been used for testing
  • Windows 10 64-bit
