The Basler pioneer series has a Gigabit Ethernet (GigE Vision) interface, so it can easily replace existing Camera Link solutions. And because Basler pioneer cameras use the same sensors currently used in our Camera Link cameras, no optics changes are required.

The wait is over! The 18 Gigabit Ethernet cameras in the Basler scout family are available now and can be seen live at the Vision show in Stuttgart. Gigabit Ethernet has become a synonym for the new interface technology used in machine vision systems and in related industries like intelligent traffic systems and medical imaging. High bandwidth, long cable lengths, and wide usage in the consumer and industrial markets are crucial elements for the predicted success of Gigabit Ethernet in vision applications.

The pylon driver package is designed to operate with all Basler cameras that have an IEEE 1394a or 1394b interface or the new GigE Vision interface. You can select the interface which best fits your needs or use both interface technologies simultaneously in your application. The pylon driver offers reliable image data transport into the memory of your PC with a very low CPU load. The integration of both interface technologies into your application is a one time only process.

Basler cameras with an IEEE1394 "FireWire" interface can be used in combination with a large number of third party software libraries. Some libraries operate with their own 1394 camera driver, while others require Basler’s BCAM 1394 driver.

The list below includes several machine vision software libraries that were successfully tested with all current Basler 1394a and 1394b (scout) cameras.

We will launch a new line scan generation. If you visit the Vision Show in Stuttgart, the Basler sprint series will be available for live demonstrations in the show booth (511). With the sprint cameras a line rate of up to 140 kHz can be realized at a resolution of 4k pixels.
