Fast, but with a Low CPU Load
GigE Vision cameras require efficient software drivers
Thanks to state-of-the-art mathematical approaches and high performance CPUs, today’s image processing algorithms are precise, reliable, and robust. Nevertheless, free CPU resources are usually limited, and GigE Vision software drivers must work very efficiently.
In the February issue of Vision System Design magazine, editor Andrew Wilson analyzes approaches from several different vendors for Windows GigE Vision drivers. One of the driver packages analyzed is
Basler's pylon.
The Basler pylon package includes drivers to accommodate two different application requirements. The Basler pylon GigE Vision Filter Driver can work with any kind of network adapter hardware. The Basler pylon GigE Vision Performance Driver requires a lower CPU load, but only works with specific Intel network cards.
