Four New High-end Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire-b Camera Models Introduced in Basler's scout Series
We expand our successful Basler scout series with four new camera models based on Sony’s high sensitivity ICX285 CCD sensor. These cameras feature a 30 frames per second image capture rate with the high image quality demanded by industrial applications ranging from factory automation to semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. With a GigE Vision compliant Gigabit Ethernet interface, these cameras can perform 12 bit image data transfer and color output at the full 30 frames per second speed.

The persuasive image quality on the scA1400-30xx models is measured and proven for each camera by automated EMVA 1288 sensitivity tests performed during production. Basler's implementation of the newest clock driver devices ensures that scA1400-30xx cameras deliver reliable, artifact-free images compared to other camera designs recently introduced to the market.

“A camera based on the Sony ICX285 sensor with 30 frame speed and proven high image quality was the dream of every camera developer and many of our customers”, summarizes Henning Tiarks, Basler Components Product Manager. Basler has realized this dream by combining extensive sensor implementation experience with the newest electronic components.

The new Basler scout camera models feature a compact 29 mm x 44 mm x 73.7 mm housing with either a GigE Vision compliant Gigabit Ethernet interface or a FireWire-b interface and are available in monochrome or color. The cameras provide standard RJ-45 Ethernet or screwable FireWire-b connectors. Comprehensive documentation and a free-of-charge driver and viewer tool make it easy to start using and integrating Basler cameras such as the new Basler scout scA1400-30xx.

Basler’s pylon driver package supports both GigE and FireWire cameras. The Basler pylon SDK enables straightforward integration into existing applications via extensive documentation and code samples that can often be simply cut and pasted into customer applications. The pylon driver technology developed by Basler has been proven in several thousand camera installations over the last year and has gained a well-deserved reputation for low CPU load, robustness, and ease-of-use.

These new cameras feature an excellent price/performance ratio and will begin series production in March 2008.
