Basler Showcases New 5MP Basler pilot at Photonics West
Building off of a successful show in early 2007, Basler once again exhibited at the Photonics West conference and tradeshow in January 2008. The 3-day event in San Jose, CA attracted over 17,000 of the brightest researchers and engineers in the optics and photonics industry with the common goal of sharing ideas and learning about new imaging and photonics technologies.

Basler showcased the new Basler pilot 5MP GigE Vision digital camera featuring Sony’s ICX625 area scan sensor. The camera, which operate at 12 fps, is available in both monochrome and color versions and includes special tools such as binning for low-light applications. Basler pilot cameras also feature one of the smallest footprints in their class (29 x 44mm) making them excellent for applications in confined spaces. The GigE Vision interface attracted some attention as well due to the increased bandwidth compared to FireWire-b.

Basler also received a lot of interest in the Basler sprint line scan camera series. Basler sprint cameras set a new standard for speed, offering 140kHz maximum line rate at 4k resolution. At the heart of this speed increase is our proprietary CMOS sensor featuring a unique line sum technology. Not only does the line sum feature enable high speeds, but it also serves to increase sensitivity by nearly 3 dB. These cameras excel in low-light applications where speed is critical.

We’ll surely be exhibiting again at the ’09 Photonics West show in San Jose, CA. We have some exciting new products on the horizon and we hope you will join us next year to talk with us and view a demonstration first-hand.
