By introducing a new housing variant for scout camera models, Basler is continuing along its path toward making scout series cameras a fit for nearly every space situation without compromising speed or features. Basler is using its successful platform concept for the scout camera family to make all of the sensors currently integrated into the standard housing available in the new housing. This means that our customers can choose from 9 CCD and CMOS imaging sensors both in mono and in color. It also provides a choice of GigE Vision or FireWire (IEEE 1394b) interface technology.
The main improvement in the new 90deg (90 degree) housing version of the scout is a remarkable reduction in the camera depth. The total depth of the camera body, included the lens mount, is less than 42 millimeters. The scout 90deg has its connectors on the bottom. Many other small footprint cameras have their connectors on the rear end of the camera, which expands their total depth by 20 to 30 millimeters. Taking all of this into account, the scout fits better in many applications.
All of the features included on the standard housing scout have been transferred to this new housing option. The uncompromisingly high scout image quality and speed compared to other small housing cameras in the market were also transferred to the 90deg models. This was the most important design goal for Basler’s engineers.
In addition, enhanced mounting options on the front side of the 90deg housing provide high stability in every application. There are four mounting screw holes available on the front side of the housing, including two just below the lens mount. Four additional mounting screw holes are available on the back. This means that the camera can be very tightly connected to the user's system thus preventing the displacement or slippage due to tension on the connectors that can often be seen with other small housing cameras.
The following cameras will be available with the 90deg housing option:
All models will be available by the end of September. For early samples, please contact your local sales person or distributor.
A detailed drawing of the 90deg housing can be found in the scout manuals on Basler’s website.
