The pylon driver package is designed to operate with all Basler cameras that have an IEEE 1394a or 1394b interface or the new GigE Vision interface. You can select the interface which best fits your needs or use both interface technologies simultaneously in your application. The pylon driver offers reliable image data transport into the memory of your PC with a very low CPU load. The integration of both interface technologies into your application is a one time only process. The unified C++ camera API of the pylon driver package lets you control Basler’s IEEE 1394 and GigE Vision based cameras using the same commands. The internal architecture of the pylon package is based on GenICam, which offers you fast, easy access to the newest camera models and the latest features as soon as they are released.
The pylon GigE Vision Performance Driver quickly separates incoming packets carrying image date from other traffic on the network and needs only the lowest amount of CPU resources to make the data available for your vision applications. The performance driver can be used with specific Intel network adapter cards and will be available during the beginning of the first quarter of 2007. The pylon GigE Vision Filter Driver supports many kinds of hardware, including all common GigE network adapter cards and GigE ports on your mother board as well. An automatic switch in front of both drivers makes sure that your system will run at the highest level of performance at all times with no additional system configuration required. The pylon IEEE 1394 driver package gives you easy access to one of the most well established interface technologies on the market. And the upgrade from 1394a to 1394b cameras provides you with the double the bandwidth available on "a" cameras.
The pylon Viewer application provides a simple method for testing and evaluating Basler cameras. This application can be used to operate many cameras at the same time independent of their interfaces. The new tree structure of the viewer's graphical user interface lets you easily find the best camera parameter setup, adjust the image quality, and control even the most advanced camera features.
The pylon Software Development Kit (SDK) contains everything needed for a straightforward software development project. The included C++ code samples for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET can be used as a base for integrating the camera into your application. Our "pylon driver only" installation package can be easy included in your application's installation script and reduces the effort of your end user customers to a single step. Online documentation, such as the pylon Programmer's Guide and the API Reference manual, help to minimize your learning time.
Support for Microsoft’s C# programming language and Microsoft DirectX Streaming Interface is planned for a future release of the pylon package.
