VISION Show Stuttgart – New Basler pioneer Series Includes Eight GigE Models
The Basler pioneer series has a Gigabit Ethernet (GigE Vision) interface, so it can easily replace existing Camera Link solutions. And because Basler pioneer cameras use the same sensors currently used in our Camera Link cameras, no optics changes are required.

The eight new Basler pioneer models are all equipped with highly sensitive sensors. The available sensor sizes range from VGA to 2 megapixels and offer users full flexibility in choosing a resolution. The progressive scan sensors from Kodak used in Basler pioneer cameras have a fast readout time and are an ideal match for the new Gigabit Ethernet interface. Because it achieves a more than 25% higher bandwidth and frame rate than FireWire-b, Gigabit Ethernet is the interface of choice when running these cameras in 12 bit mode.

With its extremely slim design and its footprint of 29 x 44 mm, the Basler pioneer is the smallest camera in its class and fits into nearly every application, even ones with limited space.

The Basler pioneer series uses innovative hardware and software designs specifically selected to remain relevant into the future. One example of this is that all Basler pioneer models are compliant with the GenICam standard. GenICam offers a software interface that is independent from camera hardware. This standardized software interface allows easy integration of different camera models, increases user efficiency, and saves time and money.

Another new technology incorporated into the Basler pioneer is the GigE Vision standard. GigE vision standardizes the use of a Gigabit Ethernet network for machine vision applications. With GigE Vision, longer cable lengths are easy and cost-effective to realize. With a data rate of up to 100 MB/s, GigE Vision allows a move away from more expensive Camera Link solutions and eliminates the need for a frame grabber.

Depending on the model, Basler pioneer cameras will be ready during the fourth quarter of 2006. The cameras can be seen live in Basler's booth (511) at the Vision Show 2006 in Stuttgart. Experience Basler’s exciting new camera designs and see the latest interface technologies, Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire-b. Come and discuss the features and benefits of these new cameras with the experts in our booth. We look forward to meeting you there.
