The new
Basler aviator models introduced at the
VISION 2009 show in November are based on Kodak’s latest KAI-2050 and KAI-2150 CCD sensors. They feature two megapixel resolution (1600 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 pixels) at 67 or 62 frames per second respectively. The cameras provide progressive scan readout and global shutter technology and are available in monochrome and color. New features, such as different Camera Link clock speeds that are selectable via software and the available 8, 10, or 12 bit pixel depths, make adaptation quick and easy, even when using older frame grabbers with limited performance.
With a starting list price of 1790€, the aviator series makes it very attractive to redesign machines that use cameras based on earlier Kodak sensors by offering twice the speed for higher machine throughput. The cameras are an ideal fit for various applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, metrology, and medical imaging.
Because image data can be read out using four parallel channels, the four tap technology used in the new Kodak sensors offers a huge grabbing speed advantage compared to standard single tap sensors. As a result of Basler’s years of experience in balancing multi-tap sensors, our extensive Camera Link interface experience, and our long history of designing cameras with Kodak sensors, the Basler aviator series exhibits superior image quality even at high image capture rates.
