Basler ace Series: Lowest Costs and Smallest Package for Easy Replacement
Basler’s new ace series is moving toward full production of the first models in March 2010. These models will feature VGA resolution at 100 fps and 1.3 megapixel resolution at 32 fps.

The hottest aspect of the Basler ace is its extremely small form factor of exactly 29 x 29mm, the most popular analog camera footprint. The ace family makes a convincing argument by combining Gigabit Ethernet interface technology, Power over Ethernet, a small footprint, and an extremely attractive price point starting at 299€, which undercuts the costs associated with typical analog cameras. The feedback from the market is already phenomenal, especially from former analog and IEEE1394 camera users.

A switch to the ace camera enables IEEE1394 camera users in particular to easily save more than 20% on the camera itself. Analog users benefit cost-wise from the elimination of a frame grabber and from lower cable costs. And because the ace series has a starting price of 299€, analog users can, in most cases, also see a lower price for the camera itself.

The cameras are designed to fit into existing systems without a major integration effort and to offer more flexibility with cable lengths of up to 100 meters.

This is topped by a single-cable solution, which provides both data and Power over Ethernet on the same cable. Basler will also offer a broad portfolio of robust, tested, attractively-priced accessories that support easy integration.

All in all, Basler is well-prepared and extremely excited about this new product launch, and we are sure that it will add fuel to the analog to digital market trend.
