Ahrensburg, January 07th 2010 – Basler AG – one of the internationally leading companies in the Vision Technology sector – has received a large new order for generation 8.5 Color Filter inspection solutions from Taiwan-based AU-Optronics (AUO) - one of largest makers of flat panel displays world-wide – in the last week of 2009. The order will be processed during the fiscal years 2010 and 2011.

Ahrensburg, December 07, 2009 – Basler AG, one of the leading companies in the Vision Technology sector worldwide, is pleased to announce that it has sold the intellectual property and all assets associated with the Optical Media business of Basler AG as of December 07, 2009 to Xiris Automation of Ontario, Canada.

After a year of continually decreasing equipment investment the macroeconomic general conditions for manufacturers of industrial goods have stabilized on a significantly decreased level in the third quarter of 2009. Demand in the Vision Technology market also found its low in the reporting period. With demand slightly increasing and a rapidly effective cost-cutting program, Basler AG was able to improve key figures in the third quarter compared to the first half-year of 2009 in almost all areas and has decreased the break-even point by approx. one quarter compared to the end of 2008 to approx. EUR 38 million.

As of the second quarter of 2009, the macroeconomic conditions for manufacturers of industrial goods have not yet improved. The volume of equipment investment was characterized again by a significant reduction compared to the previous year. Nonetheless, there are some first indications that the economic crisis may have reached its low during the reporting period.

The global financial and economic crisis and the resulting weak demand for industrial goods have significantly impacted the business of Basler AG during the first quarter of 2009.
