Basler Accessories for Stable USB 3.0 Systems
We show you which components you'll need
Those accessories must be chosen with the same level of care as the USB 3.0 camera itself. USB 3.0 accessories from the consumer field can prove penny wise but pound foolish, as they are not designed to handle their higher demands of machine vision applications.
USB 3.0 Accessories from Basler
Our portfolio of USB 3.0 accessories covers a broad selection of cables, PCI Express cards and USB 3.0 hubs. Our cables include screw-down variants that correspond to the USB3 Vision standard. In the event that the cable must be moved or twisted, be sure to use a drag chain compatible cable. Basler has tested and qualified cables ranging from passive cables of up to 8 meters in length to 20-meter-long hybrid cables with screw lock connectors and integrated optical fiber for data transfer. These are offered as part of Basler's own branded line of accessories.
If you do not have onboard USB 3.0 connections, then PCI Express cards can be installed. To harness the full available bandwidth, Basler recommends that you use motherboards that support PCIe 2.0/2.1 at minimum (for one lane, this provides for maximum data rates of up to 500 MB/s). For applications requiring multiple cameras, the cards should also have multiple host controllers and lanes to ensure the necessary bandwidth.
As an alternative, or for applications with more than four cameras, we've also included a USB 3.0 hub with four ports in our product portfolio that delivers a stable connection between camera and host. When designing your system, do remembered that the bandwidth for four different cameras runs through one port, which limits the bandwidth available to each camera.
