Why CMOS? Benefits and Sample Applications for this Sensor Technology

There are two types of image sensors: CMOS and CCD. Ever since Sony, the world's largest manufacturer of CCD sensors, announced that it would be closing its CCD sensor factory, a growing number of users have switched to CMOS technology.  In our current Vision Campus video "Why CMOS Image Sensors?" our expert Thies Moeller provides practical examples that highlight the technology's benefits for various areas of application. Have a look now!

Want to learn more about CMOS sensor technology? Our Vision Campus Article "The Future Belongs to CMOS" will give you a solid foundation in the area. For a more in-depth exploration of switching from CCD to CMOS sensors, download our free White Paper "Modern CMOS Cameras as Replacements for CCD Cameras" and visit our info page on Switching from CCD to CMOS cameras.

The Vision Campus contains in-depth articles and videos on machine vision and on vision technology in general. This includes for example the advantages inherent to the USB 3.0 interface, the trend toward smaller camera designs and how to find the right lens for your camera  – either as text articles or videos.
