Upcoming racer Line Scan Series – First Images Promise Outstanding Image Quality

Basler will market the first models of our new CMOS racer line scan camera series with GigE and Camera Link interface this summer. We are starting with 2k and 4k cameras, followed by models with 6k, 8k, and 12k resolutions by the end of the year. We are very excited about providing this innovative and high spec camera series for you!

              First Prototypes Available Soon

The first prototypes of the 2k models are currently being produced and undergoing testing. They will be available soon in limited numbers for the first partner evaluations. Please contact your Basler sales representative if you are interested in testing one of these cameras.

Great Image Quality – Comparable to CCD

Based on the EMVA1288 image quality measurements for the first racer prototype cameras, we are seeing very strong results. The 2k models showed extremely impressive dark noise values. This applies to both the GigE model raL2048-48gm and the Camera Link variant raL2048-80km with Awaiba Dragster sensors running at speeds of 48 and 80 kHz, respectively. These values are comparable to the high quality CCD sensors used widely in the machine vision industry, and the achievable saturation capacity is in the upper midrange of the sensors used today. All of this is topped by a quantum efficiency of approx. 60% (at 545 nm).

Basler racer Series - Compact Size, High Speed

The racer camera series will include models with resolutions from 2 to 12k with either a Gigabit Ethernet or a Camera Link interface, all providing the same very compact footprint of only 62 x 56 mm. In addition, the 2k and 4k racer models are equipped with Power over Camera Link (full). The combination of having this range of resolutions available in the same compact housing with today’s most important interfaces is unique and makes this camera series one the best balanced line scan camera series of its type.

Save the date: our new racer series will be presented at VISION Stuttgart show, of course (November 6-8, 2012, booth 1E42).
