Success Story: Electronic Police Monitor Traffic Violations in China

              Electronic Police
In China, one of the most common violations is disobeying red light traffic signals at intersections. This problem is an ideal match for an automated solution that can easily and effectively trace offenders. Such a solution is the ‘Electronic Police’, a camera surveillance system using Basler pilot GigE cameras, installed above the road lanes at intersections. It has been specifically designed to monitor and detect failure to stop. If a vehicle does not come to a complete stop at the marked stop line, sensors in the ground  detect its movement and the cameras above take three pictures of the vehicle and its license plate from behind. This information can then be passed to enforcement authorities for follow-up.
