Basler and Fluidmesh Networks Provide Security Surveillance for Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA)

Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) selected Basler IP Cameras and Fluidmesh Networks wireless surveillance components to curtail criminal activity, liability issues and loitering in and around their buses in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Integrator Kratos Public Safety & Security (PSS) and network system design company Systems Synergies, LLC worked together in creating and coordinating the implementation of this complex project.

The surveillance system required coverage of the interior and exterior of the building as well as the vast outdoor area, which naturally poses a challenge for megapixel cameras with regard to efficient day and night coverage. Furthermore, the system also needed to meet the requirements of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
A team of engineers implemented a comprehensive surveillance solution, consisting of approximately 40 Basler 5 megapixel BIP2-2500c-dn cameras operating on two different Fluidmesh 1100 Mito and 3100 Mito radio networks. While the Basler cameras deliver highest forensics-quality, high-frame-rate megapixel images, Fluidmesh provides the dependable radio network necessary to accommodate all the bandwidth required on the campus.

The Basler cameras were selected for their superior low light performance and their compression capability of H.264 High Profile Level 5. CCRTA is pleased with the result of the team effort. “The quality and reliability day and night and in all weather conditions has been remarkable,” states Matt Kolva, CCRTA’s Facility Manager. “The quality of the live and recorded images and the system-wide reliability are proving to be superior to anything we have used in the past.”
