Pick & Place

The areas of use of cameras in pick & place applications include determination of the position of items for correct picking from a feeder, especially from trays, but they are also relevant for tubes and tape and reel feeders, the detection of picking success, and the item’s position when picked (offset, rotation, etc.), as well as the identification of placing location and inspection of the correct final position.

Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)/Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Inspection

The areas of use of cameras in Automated Optical Inspection include control of the geometry of the PCB and its components (presence/absence, position offset, heights (tombstoning effect), skew/ tilt), as well as paste and solder inspection, control of the right components (correct item, correct polarity, damages) and checking for dirt/irregular items. This inspection can be applied pre-process (raw PCB inspection), post paste, pre reflow soldering or post reflow soldering (final inspection).
