Basler Displays Area Scan and Line Scan Camera Innovations at VISION 2008
Ahrensburg, 28 August 2008 – Basler Vision Components will present several new camera models at VISION 2008. Highlights will be new models with a GigE Vision and GenICam compliant Gigabit Ethernet interface and the expansion of the Basler sprint line scan camera series.

The Gigabit Ethernet interface trend continues with new scout, pilot, and runner camera models

With four new models based on Sony’s new ICX445 sensor, the Basler scout series is offering 1.2 megapixel cameras with 32 frames per second and a GigE or FireWire interface at very attractive pricing. The models offer double the speed compared to other cameras in this megapixel range, which makes them a perfect fit for all factory floor applications. Customers can now choose from one CMOS or ten CCD imaging sensors. All scout cameras provide the choice of a GigE Vision or FireWire (IEEE 1394b) interface. Basler will also introduce several additional scout models that will be available in the beginning of 2009.

Basler is expanding its mid-range pilot camera series by introducing two new models with 5 megapixel resolution and 17 frames per second. They are based on Sony’s ICX625 CCD sensor and deliver exceptional image quality. All pilot models have a GigE interface and a small industrial footprint of 29 x 44 mm. These cameras are the ideal choice for microscopy, PCB inspection, IC packaging, electronics assembly, and component inspection.

All scout and pilot cameras are available in monochrome and color and in a 90° version for space-critical applications.

The runner is Basler’s first line scan camera series with a GigE interface. This camera will be shown in "live" use for the first time at VISION 2008. The Basler runner series includes seven models (six monochrome cameras and one tri-linear color camera) with 1k and 2k CCD sensors and screwable RJ-45 connectors.

Innovation at its best, Basler’s sprint line scan camera is now available with 8k resolution and as a color camera

Innovative new members of Basler’s sprint line scan camera family will also make an appearance at VISION 2008. Along with the well-established 2k and 4k monochrome versions that reach speeds up to 140 kHz, a new high speed 8k mono camera and color models in the standard 2k, 4k, and 8k resolutions will be presented.

Basler’s 8k sprint, which visitors can watch “live” in action, will surely draw a great deal of attention. This camera achieves an impressive line rate of up to 70 kHz at its full 8192 pixel resolution. The sprint 8k inherits all the advantages of the flexible, low noise, extremely sensitive dual line CMOS 2k and 4k sensors that were developed exclusively for Basler.

The 8k sprint exhibits outstanding performance in high speed applications or where light is limited. The unique dual line CMOS sensor provides outstanding sensitivity and an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
The new color variants of the 2k, 4k, and 8k sprint will also have their premiere at VISION 2008. These models are based on the dual line CMOS sensors and use a Bayer pattern filter that lets users choose from several different color creation concepts. Users can select the concept that best fits their application with a focus, for example, on resolution or on color information.
