Basler pilot Cameras Available in 90° Angled Head Housing
Reduced Depth Now Fits in More Applications

Ahrensburg, 14 November 2008 – By introducing a new housing variant for all pilot area scan camera models, Basler is continuing along its path towards making the pilot series cameras a fit for nearly every space situation without compromising speed or features.

Basler is using its successful platform concept for the pilot camera family to make all the sensors currently integrated into the standard housing also available for the new housing. This means that our customers can choose from 5 CCD sensors both in monochrome and color. All cameras provide the latest GigE Vision interface technology.

The main improvement in the new 90deg (90 degree) housing version of the pilot is a remarkable reduction in the camera depth. The total depth of the camera body, including the lens mount, is less than 42 millimeters. The pilot 90deg has its connectors at the bottom of the camera. Many other small footprint cameras have their connectors at the rear of the camera, which expands their total depth by 20 to 30 millimeters. Taking all of this into account, the pilot fits better in many applications.

The cameras with the new housing have the same features as the standard housing pilot cameras. The uncompromisingly high pilot image quality and speed, compared to other small housing cameras in the market, were also transferred to the 90deg models.

In addition, enhanced mounting options on the front side of the 90deg housing provide high stability in every application. There are four mounting screw holes available on the front of the housing, including two just below the lens mount. Four additional mounting screw holes are available on the back. This means that the camera can be very tightly connected to the user's system thus preventing the displacement or slippage due to tension on the connectors that can often be seen with other small housing cameras.

All models will be available by the end of November 2008. A detailed drawing of the 90deg housing can be found in the pilot manuals on Basler’s website.

Supported by Basler’s pylon Driver Package

Basler’s pylon driver package supports both GigE and FireWire cameras. The pylon SDK enables straightforward integration by providing extensive documentation and code samples that can often be simply cut and pasted into existing applications. The pylon driver technology developed by Basler has been proven in several thousand camera installations over the last year and has gained a well-deserved reputation for low CPU load, robustness, and ease-of-use.

Comprehensive documentation and a free-of-charge SDK and viewer tool make it easy to start using and integrating Basler pilot cameras.
