Basler Introduces a Series of Network Cameras for Security Applications
Ahrensburg, 19 February 2007 – Developed and produced in Germany, the Basler scout camera series combines outstanding imaging quality with superb sensitivity. The scout family features a broad range of high-end Sony CCD sensors or a Micron CMOS sensor and offers an array of standard resolutions from VGA to 2 megapixels.

With a compact housing of just 73.7 mm x 44 mm x 29 mm (L x W x H), scout cameras are extremely space efficient. Their small size, rugged design, high data transmission rates, and networkability make these cameras an ideal choice for use in security system applications. And with their attractive pricing and high performance, scout cameras are perfect for making the move from analog to digital equipment.

scout cameras feature a Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interface that provides maximum scalability of data rates and network loads. “Basler has been active in the field of vision technology for 20 years and has applied its wealth of expertise to the development of the scout series. Our customers can see the results in a unique combination of high image quality and high data rates,” says Product Manager Rui Huang.

Basler scout cameras are suitable for applications in security technology, traffic monitoring, and industrial production. The I/O interface on scout cameras is designed for maximum flexibility and allows the cameras to be integrated into a wide range of applications.

Some model highlights:

With its 6 µm x 6 µm pixels, the scout scA750-60 offers high sensitivity, even in near infrared. The camera features a selected Micron CMOS sensor that has a high dynamic range and eliminates unwanted effects such as blooming and smearing.

Equipped with a 2/3 inch Sony CCD sensor, the scout scA1400-17 offers superb imaging quality and excellent sensitivity. These qualities, along with the sensor’s large full well capacity (FWC), make this camera ideal for use in demanding conditions such as traffic flow monitoring.

All Basler scout models are built on a common platform and users can employ different camera models without the need to reconfigure software or applications. This means that system designers can respond rapidly to new customer requirements with fewer modifications to their applications and significant savings in terms of time and money.

Basler-VC designs and manufactures advanced vision components for industrial users. Products include color and monochrome line scan, area scan, and intelligent area scan digital cameras ideal for high-speed and/or high-resolution applications. Product designs are driven by industry requirements offering easy interfacing, compact size, and a strong price/performance ratio.
