Optical Filters
Optical filters help to limit the spectral range of the light used to capture images. Selection can also be done with polarization filters.

Color cameras separate between R (red), G (green), and B (blue). The typical RGB-filter used to accomplish this separation allows a small amount of transmission in the near infrared (NIR) range. This IR transmission frequently results in incorrect colors in the captured images. To avoid wrong colors, e. g., greens leaves looking brown in the captured image, an IR-cut filter is used.
