Basler Sensic Thin-Film Inspection
The photovoltaic thin-film industry is turning towards automated mass production. In the course of this development the demand has also increased for image-processing systems for inline product analysis and process monitoring at various stages of the process.

Basler Vision Technologies is highly successful in the flat panel industry, for which we provide advanced and powerful inspection solutions for coated and uncoated glass, as well as for structured surfaces.

Based on our experience in the flat panel and glass industry, the Basler Sensic inspection technology has been adapted to meet the requirements of the thin-film solar industry. Configurable inspection solutions from Basler are available up to a resolution of 10µm per pixel. Developed in house, Basler's hardware provides the best cost-performance ratio in the industry.

Bare Glass Inspection

The purpose of Basler’s Sensic Thin-Film Inspection for bare glass is to inspect front glass or back glass in a thin-film production line. Not only is incoming glass subjected to quality control but also the cleaning process is monitored. Glass defects, edge defects and defects in the etched TCO coatings are detected reliably.

All defects are detected and classified inline to provide information on the quality of the production process. Cracks, scratches, edge chips, tin spots, inclusions, cleaning residues, bubbles and TCO coating
defects are just some of the typical defect classes.

CVD Coating Inspection

Basler’s Sensic Thin-Film Inspection for CVD coated glass is designed to monitor semi-conductor coatings inline in solar thin-film production. Both the number of pinholes in the coating and their distribution are
determined. When the CVD coating inspection is used downstream from the Laser Scribing Module P2, the system also provides a check on both quality and geometry of the cell structuring (distance and
parallelism of P1 and P2).

Final Inspection

Basler‘s Sensic Thin-Film Inspection is designed for final inspection of thin-film solar modules. It not only tests the lamination in peripheral and photoactive areas, but also checks that busbars are in place and correctly positioned.

The final inspection provides you with the assurance that your products are of consistent quality and thus uphold your reputation as supplier prior to delivery. The final inspection sustainably prevents any premature failure caused by corrosion.
