Founded in 1988, Basler with its approximately 300 employees generates a turnover today of over €56 million and is therefore one of the world's largest companies in Vision Technology. The Headquarters of the company is seated in Ahrensburg, a small town located in the surrounding area of Hamburg with approximately 30,000 residents.
Basler's business is international:
We export more than 80% of our turnover and we have a global presence in the world market of Vision Technology with seven subsidaries and representative offices. Basler AG has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 1999.
Basler operates two busineses:
Basler produces digital cameras for automatic image acquisition. Target customers are the manufacturers of devices, machines, and equipment who integrate our cameras into their own products. Basler cameras are predominatly employed in applications of industrial mass production, medical engineering, life sciences, and intelligent traffic systems. Today, Basler is the second largest leading manufacturers of digital cameras for industrial applications.
In 2008, Basler entered the growing market for digital video surveillance. Our IP Cameras (IP = Internet Protocol) allow digital image data to be distributed via Ethernet networks which enables remote surveillance and recording. Basler IP Cameras not only deliver perfectly sharp images but they also possess video analysis functions, e. g. for detecting motion in the image. Important applications for IP cameras are in the areas of security technology, remote maintenance, and retail trade.
Basler furthermore produces solutions for automatic quality inspection in industrial mass production. The fast and thorough inspection of surfaces are urrently the most important application of our products. Our most important target markets today are the LCD industry and the solar industry. In the LCD industry, we are the global market leader in the inspection of unstructured glass. In the solar industry, we are leading in the Inspection of solar wafer and thin-film solar panels. The most important customers for this business are manufacturers of machines and equipment. In addition, we also sell our solutions directly to major manufacturers of mass products (end customers). With its product lines Basler consistenly ranks among the top three in the global market.
