RoHS Compliant Cameras
To recognize our responsibility for the environment and to meet the requirements of our customers and the marketplace, Basler has modified nearly all of the cameras we produce to be RoHS compliant. During our RoHS compliance assessment, about 4000 different components were identified and checked. For any parts that needed to be changed, the required functionality was tested and confirmed to ensure the same performance, reliability, and quality our customers expect.

China RoHS Compliance

To meet the requirements of our customers, especially those in the Chinese marketplace, Basler is in compliance with the China Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products (China RoHS).

On February 28, 2006, the China Ministry of Information Industry announced China's requirements for the "Management Methods for Controlling Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products Regulation." These requirements spell out Chinese policy on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) used in Electronic Information Products (EIPs) (see SJ/T11363-2006).

The Chinese "Management Methods" are similar to European Union RoHS requirements because they recognize the same six hazardous substances and the same maximum concentration levels. Unlike EU RoHS, the Chinese regulations do not recognize any hazardous substance exemptions. The "Management Methods" document also defines requirements for product labeling and hazardous substance level disclosure.

Product Marking Explanation

Basler meets the "Management Methods" requirements by providing adequate labeling and hazardous substance disclosure for all products that fall under the EIP definition. In accordance with the requirements, Basler marks all EIPs sold in the People's Republic of China with pollution control logos.

The following illustrations show the markings that apply to all Basler products.

Environmentally Friendly Use Period

The number in Logo 2 refers to an EIP's environmentally friendly use period (EFUP). The EFUP is the number of years from the date of manufacture that toxic or hazardous substances or elements contained in EIPs will not leak or mutate under normal operating conditions and result in any environmental pollution, bodily injury, or damage to assets.

Manufacture Date

The manufacture date of each product is encoded into the product's serial number. Contact your support or sales headquarter to obtain the manufacture date of your specific product.

Packaging Recycling Marks

The requirements also specify that EIP packaging must be marked in accordance with the needs and requirements for recycling, reuse, and regeneration (see GB 18455-2001).
